  • Valencia, Spain – Breakfast, Bocairent, Xativa, Banyeres de Mariola Festival and Tour, dinner included

After breakfast we will visit the Valencia province mountains cities in a full day excursion. With the morning mist at her feet, the castle of Xátiva stands high above the valley along a ridge overlooking a natural passageway from the coast to the interior of Spain. Heartland of the Borgia family, it has seen rich and opulent times as well as war and devastation. Burned to the ground in 1707 by the Spanish king Phillip V, and rebuilt, it has many surprises in its streets and castle.

Bocairent lies hidden in the Mariola Mountains, and is flushed by the river Clariano or ‘clear’ in English. Of Moorish origin, the town lies on a hill filled with caves and tunnels. Full of cats and curious people, Bocairent feels like another world where you can feel at ease as you walk along the ‘Magical Route’ under fig trees and between cave houses and vegetable patches. We will visit the Cuevas de los Moros and the Pou Clar mountain springs.

With enough time to take in the sights, we will then go for a nice lunch (on Spanish time!) before slowly making our way back to Valencia. We will return to the city feeling re energized and refreshed., back to our hotel.
